Backtrack to Winter....

Cleaning in the basement today, moving the Winter/Christmas totes to storage made me think of a few Cold Weather projects I finish recently....

A new tree skirt...First time using large wedges and being successful! Scrap pieces of Holiday fabric I had in a basket..

A snowman panel with borders added. Backing in flannel so the Hubby can stay warm while napping.

30's Pillow Talk....

I love pillows..plain and simple! But, have you priced them lately??? eeekkk!!

So with the many baskets of scraps I have, I went searching for a variety of patterns and ideas for pillow covers.

~I truly love 30's fabrics!  What a better way than to add some decor to the new daybed frame Kevin made for me???

The first two patterns I am sharing can be found at http://corianderquilts.com/category/pillows/

When we had to sort through my late Mother-In-Law's "things," we found some Dresden Plate blocks....no one else wanted them so I brought them home...yep, I scored!!! I made two into pillows and framed two of them.

My last 30's pillow (for now)--I have searched for my pattern log on this one and can't find it!!! As soon as I find it, I'll post the pattern name.

I am thinking I need/want to add a few more so will see what I can come up with.

For now we have:

Scrappy Mountains

I have a TON of scraps! I am always looking for ways to use them up so I can justify buying new fabric...

My brother, Steve, approached me asking if I would make a quilt for him....well, duh! I want it to fit the bunk of my semi-truck, no preference, just so I will be warm.

Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Mountains pattern over at http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/06/scrappy-mountain-majesties.html fit the bill.....

"Big Block" revised.....

Missouri Star Quilt Company has a Youtube tutorial on a "Big Star" quilt pattern. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tkm3nCferp4

I really liked the design, just not the big blocks!!

So, instead of using 'layer cakes' as they did, I used 5 inch charm packs to make this quilt.  I am so in love with the outcome!!! Yeah, so much so, I gifted it to a very special couple.....

I'm Back!!!!

Many life changes have kept me away, but I'm back. I'm not going to review all of the last three years, but let's make a fresh start from here!

~I'm still driving a school bus...
~I'm still married to that great man that loves driving his truck so much he's still doing it although he's supposed to be retired!....
~I'm still a Nana, only now to two beautiful granddaughters...

~I'm still quilting as much as time allows and also started to do some machine embroidery

~I still spend as much time with my parents as I can, although many "things" have changed due to their health...
....My Mom had a massive stroke which left her paralyzed on her left side and she is in a wheelchair. She is in a Skilled Nursing Facility ☹
....My Dad is in an Assisted Living Facility as he can no longer be by himself and has to use a wheelchair for mobility ☹ Thankfully, they are on the same Campus!

Watch for updates and more pictures coming of my quilts and crafts!
See ya soon!

Bruce is born...

Bruce, the quilted Bear, that is!

I've had a request to make a bear out of "My Grandmother's old, tattered quilt that I have. Could you do that for me?"

Years ago, I did make a "fuzzy" bear for Stacy but no longer had the pattern. I found a "retired" pattern on ebay for less than $2.00 so bought it.  One one of the many snow days that we have had, I decided it was time to try this....

I used a piece of 'prequilted' fabric for this trail run.

Welcome "Bruce!"

Snow fun...

Woke up to lots of snow this morning. Since the temperatures weren't extremely cold, Rylee wanted to go out with Papa....He had the shovel so she grabbed a dustpan to use!
